About Us

We’re Annie Ballin and Brooke Lean 

We worked together in New Zealand for a number of years before moving to Australia in 2005 and beginning our own event photography company: Tango Photography.

From 2010 Tango Photography has begun operating in New Zealand too.

Based in Australia. Annie has over 15 years experience as a professional photographer and business manager. I began my photography career in 1996. I worked for a photographer marketing and organising photo shoots. One day a photographer didn't turn up, I had to go to the local camera shop and buy an SLR (Canon EOS 5 my first real camera) and go and shoot the job on my own! It was the Hornby High School Formal up the Gondola in Christchurch. They had no idea that I had very little idea.Their photographs were perfect, it was fun. I haven't put the camera down since then and have now photographed around 300 high school formals. I also photograph corporate events including conference photography, trade show photography, awards ceremony photography, corporate dinner photography... oh and I still run the office. 

Now based in New Zealand. Brooke has a Diploma in Photography and over 10 years experience as a professional photographer. I graduated with my Diploma in 2003 and started working in Christchurch as an event photographer,  before moving to the Gold Coast in 2005 and concentrating on school formal photography and family portrait photography. I have travelled the world photographing people, their homes and their families. I now live in New Plymouth, New Zealand with my family where I am carving out my niche as a professional portrait photographer as well as the Tango Photography niche in Event and Commercial Photography. You can see some of my recent work on billboards around New Plymouth City for Taranaki Hardcore, Clarke Ellic, Lifestyle Homes and the radio Network.
